Pool Water Features: Waterfalls, Deck Jets, Spillways & More

Water features are what turn a pool into a destination — the sound, movement, and light that make a backyard feel like a resort. Because we build custom gunite, nearly any feature can be designed in from the start. Here are the options and how to use them.

Waterfalls and Grottos

Natural-stone waterfalls and grottos bring a wooded, naturalistic feel that suits many Chester County properties, especially on sloped or treed lots. Built into a raised wall or a boulder arrangement, they create sound and a focal point and can conceal a spa or slide.

Sheer Descents and Spillways

Sheer-descent "waterfall" sheets and a spillover spa give a clean, contemporary look — a smooth ribbon of water from a raised edge — that pairs beautifully with modern and transitional Main Line homes. A spillover spa doubles as a water feature whenever it overflows into the pool.

Deck Jets, Bubblers, and Laminars

Deck jets arc streams of water into the pool, laminar jets add lit "glass rod" streams at night, and bubblers turn a tanning ledge into a playful, kid-friendly focal point. These are relatively affordable ways to add a lot of character.

Designing Features In Early

Water features rely on plumbing, structure, and sometimes separate pumps and lighting — all far easier and cheaper to build into a new gunite pool than to add later. We design the features alongside the pool so the hydraulics, lighting, and proportions are right from day one.
